At our Thursday night class, about half of the evening is spent practising meditation. We usually practise one of two main forms of meditation.
The Mindfulness of Breathing allows us to bring peace and stillness to our busy minds and also helps us to cultivate clarity, concentration and awareness. The Metta Bhavana helps us to develop loving kindness towards all living beings including ourselves. Metta is the Pali word for “loving kindness” and Bhavana is the Pali for “cultivation”.

We usually spend the second half of the evening exploring different aspects of Buddhist teachings and practices. This can take the form of workshops, discussion groups, presentation and talks. Check our What’s On page for the upcoming themes (although this is not always decided much in advance, so might not appear there!).
